Sunscreen Do’s and Don’ts

The effects of sun damage are well known: uneven texture, discolouration, fine lines and premature ageing to name a few.

Sun exposure also accelerates the deterioration of collagen and elastin, leading to thinner texture, reduced resilience and increased laxity.

A quality skincare regime, with particular emphasis on protection and prevention is essential to stop further sun damage and can actively slow down the appearance of ageing.

Remember what you do to your skin today will determine how you will look in ten years time! That’s why it is so important to wear sunscreen every day.

Our Sunscreen Do’s and Don’ts

DO Choose a broad spectrum sunscreen that offers protection from both UVA and UVB rays.

DO Make sure you apply liberally enough to cover exposed skin.

DO Apply at least 20mins before sun exposure.

DON’T Forget to reapply regularly throughout the day.

DON’T Use makeup as sunscreen even if it has SPF. Most of us don’t wear enough for it to actually protect our skin. Layer SPF underneath your makeup instead.

DON’T Leave sunscreen in a hot car as this can cause the active ingredients to deteriorate, thus reducing its effectiveness.
